Christopher LaRosa, product manager at YouTube music, is leaving the company on Friday, reportsThe Wall Street Journal.

People who worked closely with LaRosa described him as very talented. It is a “huge loss” said one of these people.

LaRosa is the second person in charge of YouTube’s music service to leave over the past 12 months. The other, Nikhil Chandhok, left last fall…

The WSJ reported that it was not clear who would lead the effort after LaRosa’s departure, which could stall its launch even further. However, Billboard reported that a source contradicted WSJ‘s account, saying:

“It’s a loss and he will be missed, but there are several people, senior and front-line, working on music. We’re not that concerned, from a product perspective,” they said, emphasizing that his departure would have no effect on any forthcoming products.

LaRosa has been with Google since 2007, and worked on YouTube for over four years. He will be joining a yet-to-be-disclosed startup.
