THE SONGWRITING – A TALE ABOUT COURAGE

Bye Tio is a song about saying goodbye to a relationship that no longer belongs to you – one that holds you back and makes you believe in a distorted version of yourself. The track captures the decisive moment of a bride who, after finding out she was being cheated on and swallowing years of disrespect and manipulation, chooses to say “no” at the altar and runs away from her own wedding. “Bye Tio” is our first glance at Sol Smith’s witty and gentle songwriting on a more pop note after her debut Carolina in 2023. The single was producer and arranged by Felipe Sciotti with crafty production touches, clever harmonies and beats we all heard before from songs and soundtracks for Brazilian superstars Annita, Xamã and hit Netflix & Amazon films: Beyond the Universe, Burning Betrayal etc. A punchy reggae pop tune reminiscent of Lily Allen’s “Smile” packed with as many bright pop hooks as we find on Flowerovlove’s songs; the song delivers arrangements only a trained ear in Brazilian music will catch first time around, for the rest of us, normal human beings, “Bye Tio” will definitely be one of those grower tunes. Bye Tio is capable of brightening airwaves around the world not purely for its Pop/Reggae vibe, but most importantly because of Sol Smith’s distinctive vocals, after all, Sol Smith is Brazilian and her music goes away beyond pop tunes.
