Liverpool’s Sound City festival is expanding its ranks to feature artists from all over the world, including Brazil’s garage rock duo Canja Rave. Now in its fourth year, the eclectic festival is establishing itself as a forum for international music, inviting bands from twenty-three countries to play on hallowed stages, to hungry musos. Canja Rave – Chris Kochenborger (guitar) and Paula Nozzari (drums) originally from Porto Alegre in Brazil – are a big-sound duo who wear rock references in spades – drawing comparisons to Raveonettes, Pixies and Sonic Youth at their SXSW debut last year.

Looking for treasures from Brazil in the UK we never expected to find such a complete and experience Brazilian as we did in Ricardo, who is now part of the family mainly coming on board to help us with the sync side of things but also someone that will be be dealing on the artists development side of things starting with Ophellia and The Tree. Keep Tune.

Ricardo is a Brazilian composer, guitarist and producer who recently graduated with a Masters in Audio Production from University of Westminster – London (2010).

Combining his Brazilian music background with the most modern production techniques, Ricardo developed a unique, sophisticated and fresh sound that fits different genres.

Based in London for the last 6 years, he started on the music scene as a session guitarist. After meeting the producer George De Angelis (Tina Turner/Rod Stewart/Seal), he collaborated in the recording of different mainstream artists around the globe such as the Russian multi-million selling artist Valeriya and the Lebanese singer Abeer Nehme.

Recently, Ricardo has been involved in some rather successful projects such as the short film Mosa, which he wrote original music for. The film received worldwide attention and won the Iris Prize as the best UK short film 2010. He also has been collaborating with several artists, as well as producing his own music.

Delighted we are to be able to announce that we have today put pen to paper to sign one of the most important “players” in the birth of electronic music, one Graham Massey. Graham Massey is one of the UK most consistently creative producer/composers.

His lineage of recordings dates back to the late seventies and Factory Records, tracing through the birth of Rave culture. Along with his seminal and internationally successful electronic group 808State, Massey’s remixing and production list is a “who’s who” of contemporary music over the past 30 years – with the likes of David Bowie, Quincy Jones, Goldfrapp, SMD, Björk, Primal Scream, and many others.

Whether composing for film, TV and theatre or organizing the musical community of his home city of Manchester into wayward soundtrack orchestras and organ quartets, Massey’s is a life of constant musical reinvention. One can find Graham, with various instruments in tow, playing his music anywhere from small clubs to huge festivals all over the planet.

The signing of Graham is of great significance to (©urve)music™ as we continue our push our catalog into Brazil and prepare to introduce our newest venture at MIDEM 2011 – (©urve)lctro™, an electronic boutique label with a difference. “Graham will be working with us more on the synchronization sides of things for starters, but we also look forwards in getting you dance freaks some of his remixes and of course some of his very own music on (©urve)lectro™ as we progress with it.
