Sound City goes global with Canja Rave

Brazilian beats, by way of Berlin, descend on the Beatles’ hometown.

Liverpool’s Sound City festival is expanding its ranks to feature artists from all over the world, including Brazil’s garage rock duo Canja Rave. Now in its fourth year, the eclectic festival is establishing itself as a forum for international music, inviting bands from twenty-three countries to play on hallowed stages, to hungry musos. Canja Rave – Chris Kochenborger (guitar) and Paula Nozzari (drums) originally from Porto Alegre in Brazil – are a big-sound duo who wear rock references in spades – drawing comparisons to Raveonettes, Pixies and Sonic Youth at their SXSW debut last year.

Catch them and many other emerging artists at Liverpool Sound City, May 19 – 21. Here’s a taster. | Original article by Written by Shelley Lee Jones at Huck Magazine
